Math week 4-30-18

7th grade: We continue to use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problems, and construct simple equations to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.

8th grade: We continue to use functions to solve tasks. Students will graph functions from equations and interpret graphs to create equations. Great on-line tool for graphing at
Desmos.com

Both: We also will work on a project where students build a quiz game to review formulas and measurement conversion.

Walk-a-Thon incentive: win a $500 mattress


Any student or Ray staff member who is registered at http://rayschool.dojiggy.com and has begun fundraising by midnight on Friday April 27th will be entered in a raffle to win a Simmons queen mattress set worth $500.  The winning student or staff member can come to our mattress sale on May 6th to try out the mattress set and have it delivered for free to their home! While exercise is important for health, a good night’s sleep is also important - make sure you’re getting quality sleep with a new mattress thanks to Just Get Sleep, our mattress sale fundraising partner!  Register your student(s) for the Walk-a-Thon today.

Report Card Pick-Up and Conferences this week on 4-18-18

Please contact Mr. Albrecht to sign up for three preferred times for this day.  All conferences are 10 minutes in length on the 10’s with the first one beginning at 11:50 a.m.  Conferences end promptly at 6:00 pm.  Mr. Albrecht will post and update meeting times on his blog 304albrecht.blogspot.com at the end of the day Monday 4-16-18 and Tuesday 4-17-18 so parents can check what time they are scheduled for. Walk-a-Thon May 18th!

Register your student at rayschool.dojiggy.com and begin fundraising to be entered into weekly drawings for cool stuff - museum memberships, gift cards, sports tickets and more!  Every student who raises at least $50 gets a chance to sink a teacher in the dunk tank on the last day of school.

Reminder-- No school for students this week on Friday 4-13-18 for the end of Quarter 3. No school for students next week on Wednesday 4-18-18 for Parent-Teacher conferences.

We will be PARCC testing most of this week from Tuesday to Friday. Seventh grade will get to explore and learn about circles and how circumference and diameter are related to the concept of pi on Monday.
