Maroon Match Tutoring from UChicago is back!
Starting in January, we're pleased to announce that our Maroon Tutor Match program is accepting new sign-ups from families who would like 1-on-1 tutoring for their child/ren. The program is designed to be low-cost ($13/hr), but also offers scholarships for families in need. If you are interested in receiving more information, please complete this Winter Tutor Interest Form to learn more.

Special Events for the Week 12-17-18
Monday: Junior Achievement will be joining us for lessons on financial literacy. It is also Ugly/Beautiful Holiday Sweater Day!
Tuesday: 7th and 8th grade go to see the Chicago Wolves play. Students can bring money for concessions as well as a bag lunch. It is also Candy Cane Day! Bring candy canes to eat and share!
Wednesday: Best Green (or Red) Spirit Gear!
Thursday: Pajamas, Stuffed Animals, and a movie with your class!
Friday: Chicago Children's Choir in the morning. Sports Day! Students vs. staff!

7th Loyola: We only meet on Wednesday and Friday this week. We will spend some time looking at scale factor. We will make scale drawings and practice with map scale.
8th UIC: We continue a unit on transformations: translations, rotations, reflections. This week we finish our flip books. We will also spend some time dancing and connecting the math of transformations to to choreography.

Math Week 12-10-14
7th Loyola: We continue a unit on practicing with solving equations. This week is 2-step equations. Nice article here about why equations are important.
8th UIC: We continue a unit on transformations: translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations. This week we continue to develop the math vocabulary of all movement. We finish with reflections on the coordinate grid and start with rotations on the coordinate grid. We will do an in class project creating flip books.
7th Chicago: We begin our study of scale factor. This week we talk about corresponding parts of similar figures and finding scale factor between similar figures. We will also make scale drawings and begin thinking about building a scale model next week.
8th DePaul: We continue a unit on transformations: translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations. This week we continue to develop the math vocabulary of all movement.
