Welcome back after that 3 day weekend!
Here is what will be going on in the classroom this week...
1. 7th Graders will continue working on Proportional Reasoning and the different ways you can show something is proportional. There will be a Quiz on Thursday. This Quiz grade will override the previous quiz grade if the student performs higher on this quiz.
2. 8th Graders will continue to work with exponents and the different rules of simplifying exponential numbers. We will learn more about scientific notation and how to multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation. There will be a test over exponents and scientific notation.

Field Trip !!!!!
Field Trip with 3rd grade buddies to see a play at Adventure Stage Chicago! The show is Reprise: Based on a true story, this immigrant tale explores why some objects hold special meaning, and it uncovers why keeping a promise can take a lifetime. Trip is Nov. 2. Slips and $12 due by October 21!
Homework for week 10-10-16
ALL: (DUE: 10-15-16) 6000 more math points earned on Khan Academy between 10-10-16 and the end of the day on 10-15-16!
8th: (Due 10-14-16) Handout-Scientific Notation (translate between scientific notations and standard form, multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation):
Test on Friday
7th: (Due 10-14-16) In class, each individual student was given a task. The student is to make a x and y table for the task that has at least 6 different values. Then make a graph using that table. Solve the task.

8th Grade: (DUE: 10-6-16) Students are writing a cinquain about Negative Exponents. Below are the instructions. Students will be graded on neatness. If students go above and beyond, they will receive bonus points.
Algebra: Packet from Mr. Papczun.

After you have completed the Unit Conversion Worksheet:
1. Watch this Khan Academy video and take notes. Feel free to pause it, solve it, then watch the video.
2. Play the Flight Game. Take note of the Distance and Total money earned. Then find the rate and unit rate of Distance per Total Money.
3. Finish Homework and Study for Quiz tomorrow!
