Springfield Trip Update!

Eighth Grade Students, Parents and Families,

Currently we have less than half of the 40 spots for the class trip to Springfield paid and filled. The travel company, BrightSpark, has generously extended the deadline for Ray. However, to go forward with this trip we need confirmation that parents and students will attend. To that end, we need a deposit of $20 by April 20, 2017 to confirm your spot and to continue to offer this class trip.

  • June 5 – Class Trip  to Springfield.
  • $20 deposit by APRIL 21, 2017! Full payment due by MAY 5th!
  • Total Cost per student is $132.
  • We are opening the trip to one parent per student if parents want to attend the Adult Total Cost is $138.
  • Bus, snacks, sites (including the amazing Lincoln Museum and Library, The Lincoln Memorial, The State Capitol, the Old State Capitol), dinner, and tour guide will all be included for one price. See attached information from BrightSpark Travel.
  • Please contact Mr. Albrecht if you have any questions or concerns. (lalbrecht@cps.edu)
  • THANK YOU to all who have already paid for the trip!

Participation Requirements for Class Trip:

  • An average of a C or higher in all classes
  • No student infractions that result in an in-school or out-of-school suspension
  • 80% or higher for DOJO %
  • No more than 3 unexcused absences

Math Week 4-17-17

Hello all!

First off, no school for students on 4-19-17. It is parent conferences and report card pick-up. 7th and 8th grade teachers will be in the cafeteria meeting parents on first-come-first-served basis.

The book fair will also be running all week and be open on 4-19-17! This year Ray is partnering with 57th Street Books!

Also, this week the 7th and 8th graders at Ray continue our partnership with The Revival (Hyde Parks' improv theater). Through a generous grant that Ray won from Ingenuity, we are doing an arts integration project where we are combining the process and practice of theater/improv with the mathematical practice standards. We are focused learning objectives that have students master ensemble and "yes and..." thinking. Jeff Gandy from The Revival will be co-teaching with me Mondays and Wednesdays for the next 2 weeks.

Lastly, I am continuing weekly Khan connection by giving topic students should consider for the weekly 6000 points on Khan. These topics will help the students with the content we are studying this week. Use the following search terms to find out what content we are studying this week.

Khan for 7th
