WEEKLY MATH UPDATES
7th: We will continue a unit on Proportional Reasoning and Percent. This week will look at using data tables to model proportional relationships and determine the constant of proportionality in those relationships. We will also finally take the CPS REACH BOY test on Monday and the CPS STAR 360 test on Wednesday.
7.RP.A.2.a Decide whether two quantities are in a proportional relationship, e.g., by testing for equivalent ratios in a table or graphing on a coordinate plane and observing whether the graph is a straight line through the origin.
7.RP.A.2.b Identify the constant of proportionality (unit rate) in tables, graphs, equations, diagrams, and verbal descriptions of proportional relationships.
8th: This week when transformations will begin to not only change the position of a shape; the shape itself will change--dilation! We will define dilation by its scale factor and center point and use dilation to create similar figures. We will also take the CPS STAR 360 exam on Wednesday.
8.G.3.A Describe the effect of dilations, translations, rotations, and reflections on two-dimensional figures using coordinates.
