WEEKLY MATH UPDATES

Our main focus is still connecting with students. We know there will still be challenges, glitches, and frustrations every week. That’s okay! We will be forgiving, patient, and flexible and hope you will do the same.

7th grade

We continue studying angle relationships--adjacent angles, vertical angles, supplementary angles, complementary angles. Test on Friday.

  • 7.G.B.5 Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multi-step problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure.

8th grade

Eighth graders started a unit on solving equations last week. We continue to focus on the idea of balancing equations. Quiz Friday.

  • 8.EE.C Analyze and solve linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations.

All students:

Students will continue to use Khan Academy for individual/asynchronous learning.

ALGEBRA--

We continue to connect quadratic equations to their corresponding graphs. We will then start graphing quadratics from equations in standard and factored form.

Reminder--with the return to in-person learning for some Ray students, the daily schedule for Ray middle school students is shifting. Due to in-person school going to 3:45 p.m., algebra class will be shifted to now be from 4:30 p.m. to 5:20 p.m., Monday through Thursday, starting on Monday, March 8, 2021. We will still meet remotely using the same Google Classroom and Google Meet. I will update you if there are any other changes. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
