EYH is a volunteer-based organization that hosts an annual one-day STEM conference to excite and inspire young girls from 6th-8th grade to pursue STEM careers. This year, we are happy to announce that our 8th annual Chicago conference will take place on March 28th, 2020 at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
At our conference, students will work side by side with women scientists from all over Chicago and engage in hands-on workshops that cover topics from math, physics, biomedical engineering and so much more. The goal is to introduce the girls to some STEM careers and show them that STEM is fun!
As a Chicago based volunteer organization, it is our goal to reach girls from schools who may not have the funding to provide their students with these types of hands-on STEM experiences. It would mean a great deal to us if you could share this information with your students and encourage girls to register for this event.
Registration for the conference is open to all CPS students on February 3. There is a registration fee of $5 per student, but that fee can be waived upon request. We are also offering a “parent program” (offered in both Spanish and English!), where we discuss with parents ways to continue to nurture their girls’ interest in STEM at home, and since this event is an all-day activity, child care is available for parents with children that are too young to participate in the student conference.
