Math Week 5-9-16

7th graders will finish learning about area and volume. Student will find the volume and surface area of cylinders and prisms (see video help links from last week). They will then begin to solve tasks about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles.

Video Review of Angles from Math Antics:

1. Basics: http://mathantics.com/index.php/section/lesson/AngleBasics

2. Angle Degrees: http://mathantics.com/index.php/section/lesson/AnglesAndDegrees

CCSS: 7.G.Solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume. 5. Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multi-step problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure.

8th graders will learn about volume of Spheres and Cones this week. Student will be expected to use the formulas for finding the volume of cylinder, sphere, or cone.

Video Help:

How is the volume of a cone one-third of a cylinder? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwPiA0COi8k

CCSS: 8.G. Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. 9. Know the formulas for the volumes of cones, cylinders, and spheres and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
